Lynette explains how her background in Political Science and Information Assurance has led to her career trajectory:

“My undergraduate degree in Political Science helped me develop strong analytical skills, which not only assisted me in my study of American, International Relations, Comparative and Political Theory, but also sparked an ongoing interest into the power of the courts. These strong analytical skills were a huge asset as I embarked upon a very different degree program with the Information Assurance Program with Political Science as my home department. Iowa State University’s Information Assurance Program is unique in many ways and the program’s emphasis on interdisciplinary coursework has done an excellent job of preparing me for the ever changing field of IT security. I am very grateful for the excellent faculty in the Political Science Department, who fostered such strong academic and professional growth, which has helped lay a solid foundation for me to strive for continued growth in my career. The field of IT Security really benefits from practitioners who can think outside the box. My background in Political Science has fostered creative problem solving and solutions and enabled me to use this approach in the work that I do.”
