Bio
My name is Samantha Haase and I am a 2015 alumna of Iowa State University’s Political Science Department. While at Iowa State, I truly took the “Choose your Adventure!” motto to heart and explored all of the opportunities that my education in political science offered. I worked at the Legal Aid Society of Story County for almost three years exploring my interest in law and the possibility of becoming an attorney. I interned with the U.S. Department of State three times, interning in the Political/Economic section at the U.S. Embassy in Baku, Azerbaijan, virtually interning with the American Corner in Isfara, Tajikistan through the U.S. Embassy in Dushanbe, and in the Public Diplomacy section at the U.S. Embassy in Tallinn, Estonia. All of these opportunities came about due to the courses I took in the Political Science Department and the advice and guidance I received from professors. I have continued my education in the Security Studies Master’s Program at Georgetown University. I have felt very prepared for my courses and have had additional opportunities due to my education and my numerous adventures I had at Iowa State. I have had two internships with the U.S. Department of Defense, and will likely work for the Department of Defense upon graduation. I would have never gotten here without the exceptional education, advice, and support from the Iowa State Political Science Department.
